  I’m extremely confused…

  First, I definitely read the “love” scene that everyone is raving about as a rape scene. I don’t know what Renoir’s intention was, but the woman’s acting, and the music, and frankly everything that happened up to this point, all certainly suggested to me that this was not a happy or consensual event.

  Second, lots of people are talking about it being an unfinished film. There is some text at the beginning of the film that says…
