    I don’t think I understand 2000s heterosexuality sometimes

Some extremely sweet moments, a lot of frustrations with Q, and a lot more interest in basketball than I thought was possible for me. Also a college guy going to a high school dance is CREEPY AS FUCK LEAVE HER ALONE

Where’s that essay about Velvet Goldmine and the queer act of remembering…

A movie that is fun, perceptual, and sharp. It has just enough camp to evoke New Queer Cinema, even if it’s often separated from that conversation. The idea of remembering is complicated by being a Black lesbian — it’s the act of finding and creating those memories that Cheryl takes on. Some of the dialogue overlaps and scene cuts felt a touch jarring to me, which I’m conflicted about; yes it’s no different from Gregg Araki’s bad actors, but it still didn’t suit the experience in my eyes

With how prevalent the themes of sexual assault/abuse are, it baffles me how many pretend the sexuality in this is “sexy.”

“You are a deceiver.” / “I am unclean.”

Especially its depiction of the emasculation that comes when a man is attacked the same as a woman, and how Friedrich only seems to listen once Thomas says the same.

Still some points off for the possession (speaking in a demonic voice just feels like parody to me), and also for…
