    I agree with a number of reviews of this film. The main character was too unlikeable. Even with each vignette going backwards in time, it was not clear enough as to why he was the way he was. Yes, he hated himself to the core so therefore he hated everyone else and showed absolutely no empathy towards anyone including himself. I realize there seemed like there was a lot of information revealing his life but really there was not enough. So far, Poetry is by far my favorite film of this director's.

Many films do not go deep enough in developing a character and I think this one does -- it is really about making us feeling how Fran feels.
