The Third Man 1949
I watched this movie twice today. First the commentary and then the movie itself. What Carol Reed accomplishes with the films structure, score, Welles and Cotten is nothing short of incredible. Everything unravels so naturally, that the movie just flies by. And lastly, let’s just take a moment to appreciate the weight and beauty of that last shot where Cottén waits for Alida Valli.
P.S: check out the criterion commentary featuring Soderbergh if you get the chance. He’s right when he says that this is one of those movies that is “better than people say it is.” And Ive heard nothing but good things.Translated from by
