Moonlight 2016
Phenomenal in virtually every aspect.
The editing stood out the most to me. Never have I been put on edge this much before. I truly could empathize with the characters' feelings present in a scene. The rapid, shaky shots would make my heart beat rampant and my nostrils inhale and exhale intensely. The slow, still shots would make me literally hold my breath and brace in suspension. This is a textbook example of "SHOW, NOT TELL".

An important landmark for anime. Anno's work revolutionized the industry, genre-wise, and you can see it here with this film.
The animation is great, the Asuka vs Dummy Pilots remains one of the greatest anime fights. The cinematography is phenomenal, the action is amazing, the music goosebump-inducing.
