Everything about this was beautiful and poignant and bittersweet. I was losing it at the real clips of RTA programs towards the end. Each actor’s performance was INCREDIBLE, and it was so beautifully shot. There is something so special about the behind-the-scenes magic of theatre, and capturing that inside a prison is so uniquely affecting. Would absolutely rewatch asap…
So sad I never got around to watching in theaters but better late than never :) I am so glad that this won as many awards as it did—they all deserve it!!!
Literally made me so emotional omg I love movies that depict difficult family dynamics but this one had a really lovely ending
first, i thought i was gonna throw up (i have a needle thing) 🤢 then i was like wow we live in a society…that hates women 😳 and then i laughed so hard i started crying 😂 before worrying about society again. one of my fav in person theatre experiences of the year so far
I’ve had enough of Sean Baker I’m sorry… it was good but just not for me
The lack of intimacy coordinator thing really rubs me the wrong way and why Sean Baker is fascinated with sex workers is beyond me. Just feels sort of exploitative when I’m sure there are current/former SWs who would love to be given the chance to tell their story on screen and will likely not have that opportunity
