I have seen the light. Green lights, blue lights. The signs. The sparks. The reflections on the cars. My god how is it possible a film look and sound this good? I went back and rewatched like 5 scenes immediately after finishing just because they looked so fucking cool. And one of the greatest final acts I’ve seen. Michael Mann at his best.

Words cannot describe how much this film means to me. Although I watched majority of the last hour through tears, seeing this in a full theater on 35 mm is an experience I will cherish for as long as I live.

Just about everyone in the cast gives a career defining monologue, “the goddamn regret” one delivered by Jason Robards is life changing stuff. Tom Cruise and Julianne Moore are the standouts for me, but PTA brings unbelievable performances out…

Who needs a knife in a nuke fight anyway?

Don’t know if we’ll ever see the balance of sharp satire and pure entertainment achieved in Verhoeven’s catalogue replicated. Also, only he could pull off needle-dropping Mazzy Star during a fistfight.

I too would kill for brunette Cate Blanchett. Loved when the score leaned into electronica, fit perfectly for a fun British spy flick, especially during the cold open oner.

I am in no way excusing or minimizing what happened with that extra but next time Mia Goth has the urge to kick and verbally degrade someone, I give full consent.

This trilogy may have gotten too big for its own good. Screenplay was a mess in its attempt at tying everything together in a grand, larger budget finale. The first two films thrived in their simplicity and ability to stand alone, while this one required context from the previous…
