    The Gorge

    ★★★½

    Aesthetically pleasing

    Good fun

    Pure escapism.

The first half could have transitioned to the second half in a smoother way but overall it is a decent film.

Teller and Taylor-Joy are superb individually and as a pair with believable chemistry.

    ★★

Nothing new except a weird ghost romance plot which was shoehorned in.

Best bits were the cameos from the original cast when we really should be moving away from them by now.

Do yourself a favour and just watch the original

I initially questioned why this film was even being made, as the Dark Knight trilogy had done such a good job with the Batman story.

I really enjoyed this film though. Dark and moody, it really gets into the tortured soul of the young Bruce Wayne and the loss of his humanity due to his traumatic upbringing.
There is no division between Wayne and Batman, he has been consumed by his search for answers and ‘vengeance’.

    The film is shot…

    ★★★

There is an important message to be found in this film, but it is lost in a lot of noise and indulgence until the text at the end.

The plot has potential but starts to descend into farce, quickly pushing the boundaries of believability and realism.

Jackson plays his part well, but with the plot losing direction, some strange camera work and ill fitting music it gets lost just as the plot does.

A good start that quickly becomes messy.
