  Kiyoshi is so good at slowly and subtly dialling up the tension that I didn't even notice how unnerved I already was before anything had really happened. I thought the first and second act were great and then I started getting pissed off at poor decisions made by characters who should know better!! I'm tempted to say re-watching Cure might have been a better use of my time–I think it dealt with very similar themes with superior execution–but I'm still glad I watched this and the ending made up for the inconsistent third act.

  Denji is a perverted little idiot that I need to protect at all costs. Power is so gross and deranged, an icon for a generation of girls and women. I love Aki so bad, I need him to be real so he can bully me into acting right. The Yuji-Nobara-Megumi of the Chainsaw Man universe, my beloveds.

  I had fun but I did spend most of the movie nitpicking every single bizarre plot point (Why is the concert in the middle of the day? How much does this extremely dedicated merch seller get paid?) and wondering if M. Night has ever been in a real life scenario or experienced genuine human interactions before.
