  I loved her because she was so beautiful and gentle and alive…and so very, very present.

  Extraordinary, layered, and rich with unforgettable imagery and performances. An agonizing reminder of our need to be present, unfolding as a drawn out ache in the anticipation of death. Highlighting intense red tones, the film demands a boundless prism of emotion.

  After leaving the theater, I was at a total loss for words and in awe of how well Ari could dive into the deepest crevices of the mind, yet shift moods in an instant. 

  Several complex themes are explored in playful ways—bouncing between fantastical nightmares and internal anxieties painted in rich visual & audible experiences—opening the door to a number of interpretations. 

  On one end, it feels like an anxiety-evoking exploration of unresolved issues and doesn’t shy from its disordered & bewildering…

  I went into this with total oblivion, never having seen any of Pedro Almodóvar’s films, and he came at me with FULL force. 

  It taps into the darkness crevices of imagination and challenges every expectation, while diving into complex themes of gender and self-image. 

  Not to be slept on, this film, especially its cinematography, is *chefs kiss*
