This is undoubtedly the best film ever made about Memphis transactional law, and possibly the best film whose plot revolves mostly around attorney-client privilege. It was completely absurd and gratuitous but I loved it. Watching it in two sittings probably helped mitigate fatigue, because the most absurd aspect of this movie might actually be that it’s two and a half hours long. My favorite scene was when Mitch was making copies of secret documents and started with the articles of incorporation. A masterpiece.
I liked the first forty minutes a lot. Eventually, it had to start making some sense, but it didn’t. At the end I didn’t know what I was supposed to think or feel.
