It’s a deeply hilarious and honest take on we as humans experiencing death around us. The camp and biting tone oozes from the script like the blood that splatters from the Monkey’s victims. Dark, funny, gory and unique. Full of unpredictable moments and delightful cameos that help tell this strange twisted story of brothers dealing with grief and loss. I felt like the Monkey itself represents the lack of control we can feel when those close to us perish, and the film is an honest reminder that sometimes all you can do is laugh at life’s horrors.

This review may contain spoilers. I can handle the truth.
Great performances (loved seeing Lucy!) and an intriguing storyline, but ultimately this film was disappointing. It dropped subplots that I was genuinely interested in, in order to subvert your expectations and end in a “twist” that felt as hollow as the family after the tragedy that takes place. No spooky scary moments either. So idk this was a flop for me.
