A fun, lighthearted sci-fi movie that’s pretty explicit with its themes and messaging. While I expected a bit more as a follow up to Parasite, I love that this movie was made and had a wide release. It’s these kinds of movies that remind of random movie nights with my family growing up.

the GOTHIC ATMOSPHEREEEEE!!! not really into horror but had to watch this to see what robert eggers has in store and it didn't disappoint. theres a lot of beautiful shots here (shadow-hand moving through the city, willem dafoe maniacal laughing, etc), along with solid performances from the whole cast, and an absolutely dark, immersive world that can easily keep you entertained throughout the 2hr+ runtime.

Teared up multiple times throughout just cuz I'm an absolute SUCKER for the found family trope. Though to highlight what else elevated this simple story into something truly enjoyable:
-soaring score by Kris Bowers that really immerses you in the scenes
-beautiful animation similar to Netflix’s Arcane
-all-in performances by the cast (shoutout to Pedro Pacal and Matt Berry)

    Will definitely rewatch this soon
