More (relatively good) decolonial discourse combined with great action sequences, but this time with a very welcome emotional maturity, sensitively exploring notions of grief and vengeance.
I was close to tears a few times, which is a big thing to say for an MCU film.
Killmonger is somewhat caricatured (presumably for sales purposes) but nonetheless this film manages to provoke important conversations about race and decoloniality through the medium of an MCU blockbuster, which is a pretty incredible achievement.
Also noteworthy is the co-existence of multiple strong black women in the film who all have their own unique character, quality and type of strength.
incoherent, self-indulgent and horribly written but hey there's a cool dark aesthetic upside down smily face
Not great at being a sequel. Not great at being a film even.
But an excellent piece of media all the same. If you can deal with it not being a sequel and not even really being a film, and you liked the Matrix trilogy for the philosophical exploration, then you should love this. Gets even better on the re-watch too.
