The two main characters remain rather flat. Unlike in the main series, where the dynamics and emotional connection between the family members take center stage, A Quiet Place: Day One fails to establish a believable relationship between its main characters. Unlike in the main series, real tension just doesn’t build here, even though the film could hardly be more action-packed.

Story-wise, it follows the blueprint of the first Top Gun almost exactly. Some shots are nearly identical to those in the original. It also serves as great advertising for the U.S. military. Just like in the first film, the “enemy” remains an entirely anonymous evil (but of course a non NATO-Country).
