    The Zone of Interest

    ★★★★½

The first couple of minutes, which is just purely sound, helps you focus on what is to come... 'what is this sound? Why am I hearing it? …ummm perhaps I really do not want to know what that sound is…'

When considering seeing this film you will hesitate - 'do I watch it or not?'

The Zone of Interest is an important piece and has been rightly awarded for its contribution to the industry and its craftmanship in sound with…

    The Matrix

    ★★★★★

This movie marks the beginning of a new era in film making, with many new technologies developed specifically for this movie.

The storyline is also epic and enjoyed by many as it asks questions like "is our life really our own?"
This film also inspires me with so many connections to theology and I enjoy analysing the philosophy behind the story and picking up the symbolism throughout.
Majority of people are satisfied with just the first film but I also enjoy the continuation into the Animatrix, Reloaded and Revolution. Each film builds on the philosophy, and develops action and CGI which were original and ground breaking.

Lucky to watch the world premier of KANGAROO ISLAND.
This is my favourite movie of AFF24, no doubt. It makes you laugh, it makes you cry. So much depth, such a good story, and beautifully shot (I now want to return to Kangaroo Island with my kids). I caught up with the writer Sally Gifford afterwards and praised the thought she had put into every scene and she was pleased that someone saw all the aspects that i did. The…

    ★★★½

TOXIC is an international award winner. I definitely could see the potential of this new feature film director. The cinematography and editing was outstanding but were choices made to dwell on some things for slightly too long to make it more "arthouse"?
My biggest problem with this film was my lack of connection and sympathy to the characters. I was never afforded the opportunity to get to know them, I didn't understand why I should care about them. In the end I just ended up feeling really sad but I am not sure it was what the director really intended.
