Quite good! But I'd prefer my war/action movie not end with Russel Crowe talking about twerking.

Also let's see Milo Ventimiglia in more stuff please.

  • The Electric State

    The Electric State

    ★★

Big Simon Stålenhag fan here. The world he built in his artbooks are beautifully eire and thoughtful. This movie is not. This is one of Netflix Studio's biggest fumbles of what should have been an incredibly original and beautiful sci-fi epic.

Of all the bad things I can talk about I want to talk about the music. Did you know Simon Stålenhag wrote his own music/soundtrack to accompany his artbooks? You know he already perfectly set the vibe? Yet none of his music was used.

Instead we got piano renditions of Don't Stop Believing, Good Vibrations, and Wonderwall while Millie Bob addressed the world about "particles".

ODESZA: The Last Goodbye Cinematic Experience

This concept of musicians making cinematic experiences for their music should be more mainstream.

The production, process, and genre of Odesza's music lends itself very well to a cinematic viewing. It was a very fun experience and really made up for the fact that they weren't touring in my city.

    Past Lives

I felt slightly manipulated throughout the film. Like, why am I kind of hoping this married woman leaves her husband? Celine Song focuses on this idealic reconnection of two people who have a past relationship but seems to avoid expoundung on and making us care about the existing long-term marriage. That's not a fault of the film. Just a choice. It's probably even the whole point.

And such a beautifully shot film.

Anyways. I'm glad I was my wife's most serious relationship. I got her locked down.
