Pig 2021
I stupidly expected Mandy or John Wick but got something slow, contemplative, and heartfelt. It's a touching meditation on grief, and in many ways a rejection of the hatred and agony that characterizes those other films.
Very economical in its storytelling. So much is said with so little, both literally and visually. If I weren't already so spent emotionally, the final scene would've moved me to tears. It's undeniably sweet, and equal parts heartbreaking. Makes you want to hug the loved ones you have, and mourn those you don't.Translated from by -
Fallen Angels 1995
Enjoyed it! Manages to feel very serendipitous despite its sometimes dark subject matter. Characters are charming and camerawork is fun. It wants you to feel that there's a little bit of magic and whimsy involved in "rubbing elbows" with others, which is about as romantic a worldview as I can endorse without buckling under the weight of my own negativity.

I Saw the TV Glow 2024
This just makes me feel things, man. I'm so taken with the soundtrack, colours, and performances that it puts me in an entirely different world. When Amber Benson hugs Owen, it feels like a tender affirmation for my entire age group.
I honestly think I'm unlikely to see a film that showcases the late 90s/early 00s adolescent experience as well as this does. The whole notion of the analog childhood contrasted with a digital adulthood, and the demystifying power of that transition, is perfectly captured here. Jane Schoenbrun just gets it. Easily one of my favourite films of the decade.Translated from by -
Mickey 17 2025
I struggled with how to score this, I honestly think it may go lower on a rewatch, but on the whole I enjoyed it. Tonally on a pretty similar level to Snowpiercer, with similarly fun performances. Technically a very charming and well done story. Pattinson is great, Toni Collette is great, Mark Ruffalo is clearly having a ton of fun. It's an existential movie, but it really doesn't plumb the depths of humanity that Bong Joon-ho's other films have. I don't think it's necessarily trying to, but it's just worth mentioning that it's a considerably lighter watch than Parasite, for example.
