There’s a conversation pretty early on in the film that happens between Iris and Kat that I think really summarized the core of the film’s idea. Beau Is Afraid 2023
Loved this as an exploration of Beau’s neurosis and (maybe?) subconscious. I think the plot makes a lot more sense when you put it that way and it also makes for a great puzzle. It reminds me somewhat of Mulholland Drive that way but this feels somewhat more straightforward. Anyway, what a fun ride despite breaking it up into halves because of its length. There were parts and characters that felt uncanny but, again, maybe because all of it is a kind of dreamstate where everything is a bit more than it seems. Another insane entry by Ari :D
