This actually does a great job approximating the vibe of a promising but ultimately disappointing creepypasta—a relatable but thinly drawn protagonist who seems incapable of taking action or making choices that progress the story, a mountain of tenuously relevant, front loaded exposition and “context”, a plot that teases interesting possibilities but immediately shuts them down and papers over the weak parts with forced surrealism. I don’t know if any of that was intentional! That Caroline Polachek song is good as hell though.
