Pretty good. Above average thriller. You can basically guess the plot by the time the exposition is over, and your assumptions will be mostly right, except for who dies in the end—(spoiler alert, it’s a horror [sic] movie so some people die). Creative build up and final sequence. Good watch!

I had mixed expectations, and the first 30 minutes being a love letter against how modern men are all horrible didn’t help this film’s cause. Nonetheless, I was at my wits end, having run into my usual problem of searching endlessly for a (decent) horror movie I haven’t seen a million times, so I stuck it out.

Couldn’t be happier with the ending. One minor plot hole at the end (disappearing bad guy) stuck out as being the only flaw. Tremendous watch, would recommend if you like funny movies, mildly scary movies, exciting movies, plot twists, Sebastian Stan, or good films in general.

Type of movie I’d think was based off a great book. Story moved to fast and seemed squished into the two hours. Unfortunately what could have been a compelling franchise ended up pretty stupid. I’ve seen this before, but a rewatch brought this Tom Cruise flop down from a 3 to a 2 for me.

I thought this was gonna be a feel-good story about a few young kids in a rough home environment overcoming modern, not-too-distant future problems presented in a recognizable and familiar way with subtle reliance on some supernatural elements to create unnecessary problems while avoiding any actually interesting storylines.

Turns out I was wrong… it’s actually just a really stupid movie!
