"I'm familiar with Darwin's theory, what does that have to do with you being a murderer?"

okay, new hot take of the year. this was fantastic and so well-made and fun, why does everyone hate it so much?? captures something so hard to articulate about working at a movie theater, truly gets to the heart of so many little things that rarely are touched upon in any films I've seen surrounding cinemas. adored the balance of relaxing and haunting energy, absolutely gorgeous shot compositions of course, and that final shot, as iconic as it is, when it finally hit it was so cathartic and incredibly impactful. amazing film that will probably gut me inside out decades from now when I stop working in the movie theater business.

"You were not born as a human child, but an asura, one who gives her life to avenge another."

Animation in cinema is an amazing art form that is sadly underutilized in terms of its potential. We have experienced the majesty of Pride Rock in 1994’s “The Lion King”, we have transformed into a rat with a love for cooking in a Paris restaurant with 2007’s “Ratatouille”, and we have seen the fate of the world rest on the courage of our shoulders as a warrior in 1997’s “Princess Mononoke”.

Animation has brought to life some of the greatest…
