Probably the funniest critique on capitalism I've seen in a film. Really is no scene quite like the one where the two drunks are debating -isms on the intercom as the ship totters in the storm.

I really don't understand why so many people hated this movie. Maybe they felt uncomfortable by their own materialism being satirized?

Basically a film adaptation of Voltaire's Candide with Mary Shelley's Frankenstein as the premise.

Seriously underrated, for me easily the best film of the 2020s, if not Top 3 of the new century. It may be the most visually interesting movie I have ever seen. It's astonishingly funny. Emma Stone is beyond wonderful. If art is to entertain and to make us think and to move us and to make us feel alive, we have Poor Things.

I probably read it or heard this crack years ago that Field of Dreams was Beaches for men. When I was growing up in the 1980s, Beaches was well-known as a Kleenex-picture, women blowing their noses, tears and snot and emotions galore. I've not seen Beaches (and if I do see it I will approach it with an open mind), but the joke about men losing their shit in Field of Dreams is totally true in my case.

First time seeing this as a dad, and wow, it's that much more emotional.

This is such a great film about families, parenting, life/work balance, everything.

Love how Hoffman's Ted and his kid (Justin Henry) find their rhythm. This movie is just so real.
