Wonderful technically, and new for Schrader in its visual aspects.
The film that Paul made seems to be more about how someone’s work (or their moment of death on photograph) will then determine the rest of their place in history. Paul seems to reject the project in favor of the ugly reality.
I read Banks’ book and was very effected but it, but its purpose was something different entirely. I don’t think that should hurt my consideration of this film, but unfortunately it does.

“South Boston” - worst accent you’ve ever heard.
