I really liked this, more than I thought I would. From the first scene where Bob/Timmy sings for Woody Guthrie I was locked in. Timmy a magnetic performer - I appreciated that they didn't try to unlock or "solve" Bob Dylan - to that effect, it wasn't very plot driven, which was also fine - the music was great and the movie they built around it generally worked, and that's all I was really looking for. Strong supporting performances from Norton (great to see him) and Barbarro certainly helped.
This was weird, at times very bad, at times very good (when Prince was performing - everything else pretty bad).
Such a fascinating divergence from what made Fury Road so great - what's best, it really works. Still looks fucking amazing. Obviously the same ingredients are there, and the action scenes still rip (I yelped at the hang gliders) but the focus here is more on the characters and the world building, and the idea of myth and legend.
