  I cannot stand this. It's trying so hard it makes me sick. Basically every single exchange is:

  Character 1: I'm sad
  Character 2: That's okay. We love you. And love is the most important thing you can have.

  This rating is probably too high, because there are some issues with this: the performances from the English-speaking actors, for one, but it's just so good. The way it critiques capitalist Taiwanese society, both in how Westerners and the Taiwanese interact with it, how the grossness of the underground criminals isn't too different from that of the well-known businessmen, how the characters are foolish and easily-tricked, even if they think they're doing the tricking. Everyone is in so much pain, everyone is using each other, nothing is genuine. This film really shows some of the most broken people I've ever seen on screen.
