  I didn’t see any of the movies people are comparing this to so I got to enjoy it without the jaded lens! Sick. Not mind blowing but definitely think there are potent takes about fame, image, and ~followers. Plus the Moretti songs were actually quite stunning? And! That opening sequence was absolutely gorgeous and could be a short experimental film on its own.

  Also my biggest takeaway is wow I think people are quite afraid of religion right now (in this essay I will etc)

  Still love this as much as I did growing up but now with the added bonus of crushing harrrrrd on kirstie alley floppin around on that horse

  At some point I'll come back and do a proper review but I'll name three things that make this movie an all time favorite of mine: 1) like everyone else, the soundtrack 2) it actually makes me want to make a film and I haven't wanted that since I graduated from my undergrad program totally demoralized by the film industry 3) actual humanizing representations of poor people from the south

  I mean it's absolutely a dream... after watching a lot of Douglas Sirk this month I really didn't mind the over the top aspects and what people read as satire I just read as a fairly honest depiction of the video vixen world of the early 90s, friend groups filled with artists, and the total nonsense mentality of showbusiness the higher up you go.... and besides, usually I really avoid nudity in films so the fact that I was enjoying…
