  A Bronx Tale 1993

  I love Martin Scorsese, but I think that the films that he's influenced are generally better than the films he's directed.
  Bronx Tale is Robert DeNiro's directorial debut, and it's got all the style of a Scorsese film, with more heart and deeper characters. You never forget that the gangsters are bad guys, but you still see a different side to them. They get more dimension than they would in a Scorsese film. It's a great father and son story with a healthy amount of conflict between the two father figures, both played brilliantly by Chaz Palmenteri and Robert DeNiro.

  This was the first movie that ever caused friendship destroying fights. Oh High-School. How I wish you'd never happened.

  I was once compared to Paul Giamatti's character in this movie by my former high school principal. I don't know if she realizes how insulting that comparison is. Or maybe she did and she just hated me.

  He's still Harry Potter to me. The glasses don't help. However, Daniel Radcliffe still turns in a very good performance as a young Alan Ginsberg who is just being thrust into the heart of New York's most depraved social scene, where he meets William S. Burroughs. Later in the film, he meets Jack Kerouac, and the Beat Generation is born (together, they fight crime.) The more interesting parts of this film deal with the relationship between Radcliffe's Ginsberg and Lucien…
