    The editing and mise-en-scène are simply breathtaking at times. There are moments when you think that the visuals are out of this world, and when taking into account the fact that this was filmed in 1927... The bridge scene at the beginning is one of the most astounding moments I've seen.

    Shoutout to the accompanying group at the screening I saw at La Cinémathèque. Their music score was perfect for the film.

    There are a couple of pacing issues unfortunately…

    I want just want to add my voice to the choir gushing about the INCREDIBLE visuals.

    The film is a bit too didactic/caricatural at time (espcially the final story), but in terms of directing/blocking/camera movement, it's one of the most impressive films of all time (hence a close 4.5 instead of a 4)

    The extreme wide lenses are so effective, and the dance sequence in the first story (and the funeral scene! and..) is one of the greatest long takes…

    Went to see this litterally on the first time slot it was available lol.

    And well it's the first half of Dune version Denis Villeneuve, as expected. Beautiful cinematography (if a little gray at times) and great editing are on par for the course. Rebecca Ferguson stands out among a stacked cast. The music is one of Zimmer's best in quite some time.
