I can't get enough of this masterpiece. The atmosphere is disgustingly unsettling. The performances are quintessential. The 4:3 aspect ratio makes everything feel more personal and intimate. It's all perfect. I love films that have you questioning everything you see. I have a theory that Winslow (Howard) represents Prometheus and he is in Purgatory, attempting to get to Heaven (the light) but being stopped by God (Thomas). In the mythology Prometheus is chained to a rock where an eagle would arrive every day to pick out his organs. Which is almost exactly what happens at the end of the film. Pure art.
