this was so emotional and clever and impactful!!! considering I knew quite literally nothing about the Romanian revolution or the events leading up to it, I got fully sucked into this right until the credits rolled and left with tears in my eyes. sooooo good.

mind you, I really didn't care one jot about the rich son, but he kind of falls off towards the end anyway so who cares. the other characters - particularly Florina, Gelu, and Margareta - were fantastic. such a ridiculously good film that will stay with me for ages!

tbh I came out of this legit wondering if I was stupid and if there was just something I wasn't getting, but sitting with it for a bit made me realise how much I actually enjoyed it. do I understand literally anything that happened? no. but perhaps plot, coherent character motivations, and cohesive stories don't really matter... perhaps all that really matters are vibes...

this film is SO goooooood!!! so fun and silly and ridiculous. our little found family and their ridiculous shenanigans and the goopy sweet message right at the centre of this film have charmed me so intensely I will be thinking about this for months. I didn't even know there were post-credits either - I was just staying behind because the vibes were so impeccable I needed it to last a little bit longer - then BOOM, it continues…
