The Hunger Games 2012
No surprises why Jennifer Lawrence's career took off after this film (and Winter's Bone). Her acting is outstanding as she's able to fully find the emotion in each scene. And great performances from Josh Hutcherson, Woody Harrelson, Elizabeth Banks, and Stanley Tucci made The Hunger Games an all-round superb movie.
The film's composer – James Newton Howard – made the perfect score; establishing thematic music that's memorable and powerful.
The Hunger Games story remains one of the most resonant analogies to life and society. It is a big relief that they got this film right.

Deadpool & Wolverine 2024
A much-needed instalment in the Marvel Cinematic Universe to counterbalance all the pandering post Avengers: Endgame. The early MCU was basically made for comic book fans – and so was this movie. Admirers of the Deadpool and Wolverine characters always knew that their relationship had to be put on screen. The humour, violence, and sorrow that encapsulates both these anti-heroes are all showcased in this film.
