  Going off of two recommendations and capping my theater evening experience, Novocaine was just a fun time with a goofy premise that does everything it should. And there’s nothing wrong with that; with the exception of one plot twist that genuinely surprised me since it was going very “by the numbers” for a bit.

  Due solely to that “special message”, I cannot in good conscience review this film properly. It does not deserve it. I will say this:

  Emotionally manipulative films can get a message across, and this message was resoundingly “if you want to fight child sex slavery, then give OUR MOVIE more money” including a fucking scannable code to buy more tickets because the theatrical experience OF A MOVIE is SO CRUCIAL to saving ACTUAL children.   Missing 2023

  There’s a caveat before this one: this film review is going to be hard to remember because I had the most amazing hour and a half long conversation with two wonderful people afterwards and I swear it skewed my opinion of a film I didn’t care for because they are both amazing.
