"I haven't been that sad since they killed Josh Charles on The Good Wife." I'm pretty sure I was the only one in my showing that laughed at that line.
Loses just a smidge of steam in the back half but damn if the first 45 minutes or so aren't jam-packed with laughs. The Bin Laden song killed me, and Will Arnett popping up to poke fun at Harvey Levin/TMZ was terrific. Also, Bill Hader's roadie absolutely has a Letterboxd account.
Gorgeous black and white cinematography, a great score, and an impeccable lead performance from Julianne Côté make for a hidden gem from Quebec. Tu Dors Nicole is all about mood, and it perfectly encapsulates the lazy, hazy days of summer.
So many wonderful, low-key laughs, my favorite of which involves Nicole and a staffroom microwave.
Garbage. Hot fucking garbage. Arnold keeps it from being a total waste of time, but just barely.
