  I saw this one back when I was as old as the kid in the movie and the movie spoke to me on a level I hadn’t uncovered yet. Saw it again when I’m closer to the doctor’s age in the movie. It still holds up! It has so many emotionally charged moments while the tone is sombre throughout. The dialogues are simple but aren’t surface level - they cut deeper. 

  M Night Shyamalan could never top this but this movie is the reason why I never lost faith in the guy!

  It’s like someone merged that short story from Jeffery Archer (you know the one!) but backwards and 12 angry men together.

  Well, I’m slightly biased because I watched the movie with my ‘Marion’ on the rooftop of a mall, with a scenic view in the background, birds and planes frequently, but gently, interrupting the movie and candlelight radiance in front of us.

  I really like how Julie Delpy has taken a few feathers off of linklater’s cap, absorbed the aesthetic of a conversation-centric plot, but yet it was distinctly her voice.
