  Started this after watching the start of the original again. Was curious how the prequel might “explain” all of the aftermath at the “Swedes” camp.

  … turns out it kind of forgets about most of it…

  This suffers from “writing gymnastics”, and a misunderstanding of why THE THING is so good.

  The thing that makes THE THING so good is not the ALIENS. So we don’t need bigger CGI aliens, and we don’t need CGI space ships.

  If you ever bring your 3 year old kid to an advanced screening of a monkey movie at 9pm, who then proceeds to loudly ask questions at an unfathomable volume, some of which include “is that a boy or a girl” or simply screaming “uh oh” at any dramatic moment…genuinely, and I mean this…. Genuinely you don’t deserve happiness.
