Never seen anything like DDL's performance in this. The hair, the outfit, the knives - total freak charisma. Leo and Cam have never looked better. Huge detailed sets. Interesting period of history. Culminates with a U2 song. But the real secret sauce is a pace that never lets you catch your breath. There is one quiet scene in a bedroom, and otherwise it is building, building, building.

Megalopolis 2024
In some ways, this is the most stripped down film experience I've had, as you recognize in minutes that the acting and erratic plot warrants little attention. So you are free to mull over where Jason Schwartzman is in the Coppola family tree, if Nathalie Emmanuel knew what movie she was in, and if slow moving walkways really are a future worth fighting for. And, occasionally, the ideas that Coppola helpfully places on title cards if you weren't paying attention during the dialogue. Unfortunately, these ideas are not really wrestled with in the film itself, but they are good discussion topics for after!
