Watching this movie felt like a day’s work, or at least exhausting enough that I wanted to nap immediately afterwards (difficult to manage when your heart is leaping up your throat and “Mata Mata jai Mata” still ringing in your ears). Tara vs Bilal 2022
Still unconvinced by Harsh, though I do think there’s a perceptible improvement in charisma in this film compared to “Sanam Tere Kasam.” But if I’ve got to endure a lukewarm hero for these rewards (throwback genre, modern sensibilities), so be it. The “Laal Dupatta” sequence put me in actual physical danger when I inhaled my own spit while laughing too hard.

Atrangi Re 2021
I suppose the sensible thing to do would be to be annoyed by this film, but unfortunately, what it lacks in any resemblance to real life it makes up for with laser-pointed emotional logic. It doesn’t make sense but it also MAKES SENSE, you know? “Meri biwi waapas aagaye” <333 Still wanted to punch Akshay’s stupid face, though.

If nothing else, I can appreciate the joyous masala love that wafts off this project.…
