Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse 2023
Stunning visuals, absolutely mesmerising. This is what sets it apart from the others in this over-saturated superhero genre.
Well-written characters. They are humans who just happen to have superpowers, not perfect beings who are omnipotent and all-powerful. These characters have flaws, which is what makes them feel real. Our 15-year-old protagonist can’t be expected to make rational, mature choices all the time. I find myself wanting to defend their actions, understanding their motives and thinking more. That’s how you know the characters are written with effort, much better than Marvel’s lacklustre, one-dimensional, churned out heroes.
