Saw this in a screening room for the first time. It plays so much better on a big screen. The monster/gore is scarier, the tension is tighter. Wow wow wow.

It’s also such a lean movie. It’s short but it never feels short. And it never feels boring. Love.

This movie spends most of its time as a dated illumination movie (fat hairy villager screams like a woman 6 different times) and then the last thirty minutes is a high octane anime adventure (epic battle between the forces of good and evil).

In all fairness, I was only able to watch the English dub, which I think had tons of bad jokes added for American audiences. I also know NOTHING about Chinese folklore, and the movie just kinda brings in characters without introducing them, so that was tough.

But the battle at the end leaves you with a good taste in your mouth.

I got to see this at the Animation is Film Festival for the North American premiere. What a great crowd!

A looney, tuney good time at the movies. Feels like the best of the old cartoons with a modern twist, with a big heart and hearty helping of wacky comedy.

This movie proves that a 2D feature length film can still be relevant and I hope to god the audience comes out for it.

    LONG LIVE THE LOONEY TUNES!!
