"Classic miscarriage of justice." RaMell Ross's Nickel Boys is truly a Trojan horse in this year's awards race that deserves all the praise and so much more. The direction and cinematography are in a class of their own and hopefully will challenge others to step up their game. Nickel Boys is a deeply heartbreaking film about the injustice of reformatories set in the Jim Crow South. The performances are both fascinating and heartbreaking.
