The Texas Chain Saw Massacre 1974
Senseless violence perpetrated on the most innocent victims by a ruthless force of sadistic insanity. The farming allegory is best served as a prop for that portrayal to stand on rather than the allegory being center stage, in my opinion. Some might say this diminishes the power of the comparisons and I can understand why one might feel that way but I enjoy and fear the movie much more when I see it through the lense of a portrayal of elemental sadism and evil

Hundreds of Beavers 2022
Does an abrubt genre shift count as a fourth wall break? In certain contexts, definitely. Laughed hard and often, and to me, the tonal inconsistency of this movie is not even a small problem. Had a ton of fun watching. Clever as hell too but not high brow enough to push viewers away. Filmmakers were in a perfect postion to write some outrageously funny stuff and they capitalized on it every time and with great results consistently. Loved it.

Everything Everywhere All at Once 2022
If you’re a really annoying person with a really annoying personality who holds really annoying beliefs, and is generally not that fun to be around, you are going to DEEPLY identify with the antontagonist of this one.

Clue 1985
Saw this at a local art house theatre last night. Full house, which is great but the girls behind groaned and went ”yikes 😬” at every joke that was more risqué than a John Mulaney bit.
Tim Curry rocked and rolled, and the last few scenes (without spoiling) are a very interesting and extremely literal way of adapting a board game into a film. Well done!
