The Squid and the Whale 2005
This is a well done story of the grief of a torn apart family. There is a very down to earth and at times dry dynamic between the broken family that truly makes it feel real and human. Additionally, there's scenes with strong implicit value that make you wonder the true reason why things happened the way they did.

The Brutalist 2024
A long biography about an architect struggling to make his place in America after immigration from Eastern Europe that is definitely worth the 3.5 hours. The camera work conveys a deep emotion, as does the unique score accompanying it. This story is slow moving, but it's necessary to feel what is happening.
I also really liked that there was an intermission!

This review may contain spoilers. I can handle the truth.
This is the raunchiest movie that I've ever seen, but it is under-toned by a slightly despairing story of a broken friendship between best friends, caused by an immature ignorance in getting what they say they want. The narration pulls you in as well, explaining all characters in depth and at times the history of the setting.

The Hateful Eight 2015
I've seen this movie a couple times and still love it, amazing that you can create a whole movie in one setting. Wonderful cinematography as well
