Pretty intense night, that’s why you should just stay at home sometimes.
But as a film this is very well made, loved the look of this 80s soho, the crazy characters (how do you come up with something like this), great performance by the lead actor, you could really feel for him and just want the night to end. However it was enjoyable to watch this crazy misery.
Excellent murder mystery that portrays a depressing reality really well. Every character has its own story which is developed very well so you are invested from the first minute.
The ending is one of the best and most unsettling ones I`ve seen in a movie.
As for philosophical sci-fi films it doesn’t get much better than this.
Tarkovsky deals with great philosophical questions in this film, such as what makes us human or how we can deal with our guilt and the meaning of life.
Besides the amazing script it is just beautifully shot. Even if at times the film moves a tad slow it doesn’t matter because the intense atmosphere Tarkovsky creates never leaves you.
There is so little music in the film, but…
