Bone Tomahawk 2015
really conflicted on this. its philosophically despicable and undeniably rooted in settler colonialism, but admirable in its filmmaking and brutality. i think a healthy ecosystem for cinema would encourage the creation of films like this but i don’t think it should encourage this film in particular

great cinematography AND male full frontal, but also overly long and really drags in the middle. luckily the third act pulled me back in. should’ve ended ten minutes before it did. mixed bag. not terrible, but my least favorite friedkin so far.

not gonna lie, i watched this because it's called simonland and my name is simon. anyways, this was both incredibly on the nose and deeply unsettling. i don't really know how to rate shorts like this so i'll say this: it is certainly effective at what it's trying to do.
