Incredible. It defies thematic expectations, and is topped with the right amount of dark humor. Would love to rewatch and do a deeper review.

    “It’s just a prank bro”
    The prank:

In all seriousness, it’s sad to say that it took Lynch’s passing for me to finally see this. I really enjoyed the special effects and overall aesthetic of the film. Lynch’s fears of parenting are conveyed quite well, which makes sense for how involved he seemed to be in every element of the process.

    Certified Eggers Banger

Eggers delivers again with a horrifyingly disturbing but beautiful period piece. Stand out performances by all; Dafoe steals every scene he’s in. The imagery is so well crafted, and paired with excellent costume and makeup, you are fully immersed in both Transylvania and Wisborg. Skarsgård is terrifying, and Depp’ portrayal of Ellen’s sacrifice is so powerful.

This is my favorite Christmas movie. As long as I can remember, I’ve watched this on Christmas Eve, and it’s still just as heartwarming and sweet.
