As a fan of the Broadway musical, this is a great adaptation. I love that it’s in two parts so it gives more time for the characters’ stories to develop. So many amazing and memorable scenes that left me with goosebumps. There were a couple times that I thought Ariana Grande’s or Cynthia Erivo’s voices blended too well — like it was hard to distinguish them in certain notes during duets due to past actors in these roles with very distinctive voices. But I like subtle changes to the adaptation vs musical version as well as what these ladies did with big shoes to fill.

Good, but not as good as the original. Denzel Washington was a scene-stealer.

Steven Spielberg proves he’s still one of the best. #WestSideStory introduces a classic tale to a new generation with style, beauty and wonder. It stands alone from its equally charming 1961 predecessor, and fans will enjoy this one, too. Cast is phenomenal, and Rachel Zegler kills the role as Maria for her feature film debut.

Sadie Sink and Dylan O’Brien kill their performances! Their argument scene was phenomenal. Taylor Swift never fails to surprise her fans with emotional punches.
