Boldly claiming this is up there as one of the all time great remakes*.
Losing G. A. Smith's comedic tone, silly outfits and theatrical set design, Bamforth's realism foreshadows Yorkshire (and North England)'s gritty working class aesthetic in film. Improving the pacing of Smith's opening shot, Bamforth wastes no time getting his viewers straight into the titular tunnel.

1½/10 — Think this is entertaining? You've clearly never seen Married At First Sight Australia. Bergman could never.
It's all subjective, perhaps the extended cut is a masterpiece as the ratings imply? Alas, shall not be subjecting myself to anymore of these two.
Worth a watch if you need a break from ninety minute dramas featuring characters you're invested in. One film closer to selling this damn bluray boxset at least!
