Almost Famous 2000
Really enjoyed this and it could’ve rated higher if I wasn’t watching it on an airplane. I hate to think that I’m so simple, but a Bildungsroman in which the protagonist is not outrageously unlikable works much better for me. (This framing perhaps minimizes my own (cringe?) self-identification with Will, who is largely goody goody and precocious and stays that way as he grows).
The 70s seemed cool, man. Kate Hudson is incredible in this. No airplanes tour gag is really excellent.

Do not watch this movie as a 14-year-old! Do not watch it on an iPad! Do not watch it in the Caribbean on a family vacation! Do watch it on 70 mm at the Beverly Hills art theater (a Laemmle theater no less!).
