I have this big lebowski tape and there’s this exciting trailer for this movie at the beginning. For years I assumed yeah that movie, looks funny, dynamic, 90s movies about yuppies being fucked to each other like last days of disco (also a trailer on that lebowski tape) But fuck wow this is a mean spirited dry flick. No music, just like 90s yuppies being fucked and awful to each other.

Halloween 4: The Return of Michael Myers 1988
Low-key one of the best in the series. Love the warm autumn vibes of the opening. Anyone else notice that spuds mackenzie lamp? I looked it up on ebay they go for like 400 dollars now, insane, I want one so bad.

Men at Work 1990
Fantastic sleazy cheesy action comedy that I’m surprised isn’t more of a cult film. Touches of many movies I love (if you like Repo Man, Dark Backward, Long Kiss Goodnight)
There’s a thread of anti authoritarianism that runs through Estevez’s filmography (Wisdom, the Public) this is no exception with cops and corporate creeps getting clowned on throughout.
Impeccably cast for late 80s/early 90s cult. Emilio Estevez, Charlie Sheen and Keith David as a psychotic Vietnam vet. Immanently watchable, great chemestry, lots of jokes that pay off. Good vibes.

RoboCop 2014
This came up in rotation on Netflix this week, and I had never seen it. Bizarre to watch a film, with it's lineage, to have nothing coherent to say about authority, law, technology, or the nature of being human. Convinced this was a psy-op to disguise a pro-authoritarian message, veiled as a "self-aware" sci-fi vehicle. Mega fascism robot, transformers his way around middle class Detroit and everyone cheers? Society owes Verhoeven an apology.
